“Save The Sharks” Booth

Shark fins, delicacy or unnecessary cruelty?

According to IUCN Red List, 74 species of sharks are threatened, and there are 209 other species which the data is insufficient to determine the extent to which they are threatened. As the top predators of the marine food chain, sharks can control the population other predators, and plays an important role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems. However, there are still caterers selling shark fin soup, and Hong Kong is the world’s largest trading port for shark fin. Our society has held a booth, introducing the current situation of sharks and their ecological value, and asked people to sign the petition to urge the government to stop the sale of shark fin.
