‘Enthuse’ means to cause to become enthusiastic. We, Enthusers, would like to spread our enthusiasm in nature to others, so that more and more people would become interested in and concern about the nature.
Apart from raising others’ interest and concern in nature, protecting the nature is also important. We aim to promote nature conservation. Moreover, we aim to foster internal coherence within the Society as every member is important to us and the Society.
Every little makes. As Enthusers, we enthuse others with our enthusiasm in nature. Together, we cherish and protect our nature.
小麻雀嘉年華 Sparrow Carnival
ELSS於5月1日參加了由香港觀鳥會主辦的小麻雀嘉年華，以市區常見鳥類為主題準備了小遊戲及展板。
ELSS joined the Sparrow Carnival organized by the Hong Kong BIrd Watching Society on 1 May. We prepared game and exhibition boards based on our theme of common birds seen in urban area of Hong Kong.
「保衛郊野公園 - 行山打卡」 "Save Our Country Parks - Be Counted"
保衛郊野公園聯盟將於12月的第2個星期日(12月13日)首次舉辦欣賞郊野公園日活動，今年主題為「保衛郊野公園日 - 行山打卡」，以反對建議發展郊野公園的言論。為響應及支持此活動，香港大學學生會理學會環境生命科學學會將於當日於龍虎山郊野公園設置兩個檢查點，以此向大眾宣揚郊野公園的重要性及爭取他們支持保衛郊野公園。
The Save Our Country Parks Alliance will hold the first Annual Country Parks Appreciation Day "Save Our Country Parks - Be Counted" on 13 December, in opposition to the voices who proposed the use of country parks for development. To support this event, ELSS will be in charge of the two checkpoints set up in Lung Fu Shan Country Park, promoting the importance of country parks to the public and gaining their support on saving country parks.
大嶼山可持續發展民間論壇 Lantau Sustainable Development Forum
大嶼山發展的議題如火如荼，政府的論述強調大嶼山位處珠三角戰略位置，極具發展潛力。但當中不少爭議尚未解決，仍待民間社會多加討論。 創建香港、香港大學學生會理學會環境生命科學學會、島嶼活力行動、東涌社區發展陣線聯合舉辦論壇，邀請各方代表。
通過彼此的交流，為大嶼山發展相關的政策、規劃指引及決策過程等方面，引起更多思考和討論。
The objective of the forum is to focus in three specific areas of the Lantau development plan.
We hope the exchange of information and views in the forum will provide inputs for debates and in establishing policy, planning guideline, and decision-making framework on Lantau development.
綠息系列 - 綠色生活體驗日 Green Series - Green Living Experience Day
活動由HKU Sustainability、 自然脈絡 Natural Network和ELSS合辦，分別在 7月27日（星期三）和29日(星期五) 於八鄉亞公田村自然脈絡農場和上水雞嶺村自然脈絡農場竹舉行。透過體驗農務、零廢購物及柴火煮食等，同學們學習了如何實踐綠色生活，亦從野人和呀King 的分享中得到更多啟發。
The activities are co-organised by HKU Sustainability Office, Natural Network and ELSS.They were held on 27th July, 2016 and 29th July, 2016 in Farm of Natural Network in Pak Heung and Sheung Shui respectively. Through farm work, zero-waste shopping, setting a fire for cooking and more, participants learnt how to live greener. They also got some inspirations from Yeah Man’s and King’s sharing.
